ILS Basel stands for the highest quality of teaching, a central location, and modern infrastructure.
Our school is ideally situated in Basel and is easily accessible both by public transport and on foot. The modern, bright classrooms create a pleasant learning atmosphere and are equipped with up-to-date technology to ensure engaging and effective lessons.
The teaching quality at ILS Basel is distinguished by qualified and dedicated instructors who cater individually to the needs of participants. We offer group courses in various formats—morning, afternoon, evening, and even on Saturdays—so that lessons can be flexibly integrated into everyday life. Additionally, we provide private courses in over 40 languages, tailored to personal goals and availability.
Another central focus of our school is targeted and professional exam preparation. We competently guide our participants towards a variety of internationally recognized language exams, some of which can be taken directly on-site. Furthermore, within our ILS-Junior program, we offer specially designed exams for children that are age-appropriate and optimally support their language development.
For younger learners, we also organize the popular ILS-Junior (holiday) language courses, which perfectly combine learning and fun. In addition, our “mytutor” tutoring program provides individual support for students in various subjects and languages.
Overall, ILS Basel combines high flexibility, professional teaching quality, and a broad range of offerings to provide learners of all ages and levels with the optimal conditions for success.
The nationality and age mix at International Language School Basel varies over different time periods, courses and levels.
ILS-Basel does not hold classes on the holiday dates below. The school does not compensate for these holidays, so make sure to choose your start date accordingly.

The teacher was great. The book was great. The super intensive course is no joke. If you put in the work, the course is designed for students to be successful. However, students with situations that do not allow them to put in the work slow down the class as a whole. The classrooms could be made more compatible with the classes it needs to accommodate.

The location, near SBB, could not have been more convenient.
I took a combination of small group classes followed by private instruction. This structure helped me identify reinforcement points in the afternoon. Other students were very diligent and interested - established the right environment for learning. Be prepared for afterschool assignments (~1 hour) outside of the instruction time.
Course materials were interesting, and more importantly, well-paced. A lot was covered in a week!
A well-organized school in a good location close to Basel SBB Railway station. The teacher was excellent. There were only three students in the class so the teacher had enough time for all the students. The education focused on conversation, but there were also grammar and writing. The classrooms didn't have air-conditioning but there was a big fan in the room.
