Course description

Our Intensive Chinese Program is designed specifically to suit Western learners by separating spoken Mandarin from character recognition. This innovative teaching method is proven to accelerate the learning process and help students reach a conversational level quickly. Students on our Intensive Chinese Program are able to engage in basic conversation and recognize about 600 Chinese characters in only 3 months time.

Intensive Chinese Program features:
- 15 hours of group Chinese classes per week
- Free additional tutoring sessions
- Airport pick up on our arrival dates
- Accommodation in a private room within a shared apartment in central Shanghai (utilities and wifi included)
- 2-3 cultural activities per week (e.g. tea ceremonies, taichi lessons, kung fu shows, trips to the nearby water towns...)
- Visa assistance
- City Orientation and welcome pack
- Practical assistance and 24/7 support throughout your stay

Course levels:
Learners of all levels can join our Intensive Chinese Program, from beginners to advanced. Our classes are tailored to suit your level and your aims, so whether you're looking to pass a HSK exam or study business Chinese, we can help. Upon arriving at the school, our course advisor will give you a short level test and ask about your learning goals to find you a suitable class.

You will live in shared apartments located a short subway ride away from the school. If you're doing an internship we will try to place you as close to your company and the school as possible.

Hutong School provides you with apartments located in characteristic Hangzhou communities that blend the traditional and modern elements of today's China. On one side of the street you might see small picturesque Chinese buildings; on the other side you will be faced by China's future, a multi-storey shopping centre or high rise international hotel. The land of contrasts supplies you with an ever-changing city.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged H$ 600 when you register.

Flights and airport transfer

Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to Hangzhou based on your budget, schedule and preferences.

Travel insurance
