Course description

The DELE Preparation Course at Celas Maya is designed for students who wish to prepare effectively for the official DELE examination (Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera). The course combines personalized instruction, structured academic guidance, and intensive practice focused on the specific requirements of each DELE level, from A1 to C2.

Before beginning the program, students complete a level assessment and academic evaluation to identify their current Spanish proficiency, learning needs, and exam objectives. Based on these results, our academic team develops a personalized preparation plan adapted to the student’s level, strengths, and areas requiring improvement.

The course focuses on all sections of the DELE exam, including:

reading comprehension;
listening comprehension;
written expression and interaction;
oral expression and interaction;
grammar accuracy and vocabulary development;
and exam strategies and time management.

Students work with authentic exam materials, guided practice activities, mock examinations, and individualized feedback provided by experienced instructors familiar with the DELE evaluation system. The methodology emphasizes communicative competence while also helping students become familiar with the structure, criteria, and expectations of the official exam.

This course is ideal for:

students seeking official Spanish certification;
university applicants;
professionals requiring language credentials;
future teachers of Spanish;
long-term Spanish learners;
and candidates preparing for academic or professional opportunities in Spanish-speaking environments.

Classes are available in-person in Quetzaltenango or online with flexible scheduling options. As an official DELE examination center, Celas Maya provides students with an academically rigorous and supportive environment for successful exam preparation.

At Celas Maya
, our homestay program is designed to provide students with a safe, comfortable, and authentic cultural immersion experience in Quetzaltenango. All host families are located within walking distance of the school and in the surrounding neighborhoods, allowing students to move easily between their accommodation and classes without the need for transportation.

Students stay in carefully selected Guatemalan homes where they can experience daily life, traditions, and genuine interaction with local families. The most important aspect of the homestay experience at Celas Maya is communication and cultural exchange, helping students practice Spanish naturally outside the classroom.

Host families provide three daily meals, offering students the opportunity to enjoy traditional Guatemalan cuisine and learn more about the country’s culinary culture. Meals often include local ingredients, homemade dishes, and regional specialties from the Guatemalan highlands.

To support students’ health and well-being, the school also provides purified drinking water through an ozone purification system. We encourage students to bring reusable water bottles or containers and refill them at the school throughout the day.
