Terrassa Spain is located in the east central region of Catalonia. It originated as a Roman town, back in the reign of the emperor Vespasian sometime during the time from 69-79 BC. Just 20 to 30 km outside of Barcelona, Terrassa is an industrial city, but also the home to Conjunt Monumental de les Esglesies de Sant Pere, or the Ensemble of the Churches of Saint Peter – a group of three pre-Romanesque churches, a great example of architecture from the Visigothic period. Students studying Spanish courses in Terrassa cannot help but be intrigued by these three churches and the history they depict. Students will enjoy a primarily Mediterranean climate while attending Spanish school in Terrassa. The city of Terrassa is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle in Barcelona. For the students hoping to be engulfed in the culture, Terrasa is an excellent choice, offering a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy strolling through the shops in the center of town. Sample the local cuisine in any number of restaurants, and enjoy the famous Modernista buildings throughout the town. Terrassa is also involved in promoting the study, preservation and development of Art Nouveau via its participation in the Art Nouveau network, created in 1999. Take time to explore the city’s network of museums, historical archives and libraries. The museum of Terrassa and the Museum of the Science and Technique of Catalonia are both interesting and popular destinations.
