Morning English courses in Scotland

The Standard General English Course takes place every morning from Monday to Friday, leaving you free every afternoon to join the Social Programme or study in our Self-Access facilities. Your morning lessons are divided into two parts and you will usually be taught by two different teachers.

The General English course is a full-time programme that runs all year. The course has a strong focus on the practical needs of both short and long term visitors to the UK.

Centre of English Studies gives students the unique opportunity to study in two countries in any of our centres. The Multi-Destination Course gives students the opportunity to live in both England and Ireland and more about the culture, history and social life of both countries.

The English Language Program at ISSOS is designed for those who have English as a second language, the interactive program caters fo all ability levels and helps students become proficient in English by immersing them in an English speaking environment for three weeks. On arrival at ISSOS students will be given a proficiency test so that we can establish the English level and they can be placed in the correct class level.

This three week debate program offers students, whether experienced or inexperienced in debate, the opportunity to immerse themselves in the exciting academic world of debate. Combining interactive workshops with professional coaching and a variety of formal and informal debating opportunities students will be able to take part in a stimulating experience second to none.

Over three weeks our business and entrepreneurship program will introduce students to a world beyond academia, through a series of interactive workshops, practical tasks and case studies students will learn about some of the most successful businesses in the world and understand what makes them work. Students will learn about what it takes to be an entrepreneur and the fundamentals of starting a business and marketing a product.

Introductory and advanced workshops will introduce students to all phases of the writing process, including idea generation, writing and revising drafts and editing. Studying General English, you will increase your vocabulary, enhance your grammar, improve your written work and strengthen your reading skills.

If you are planning to study at a college or university you will be required to demonstrate your English language ability prior to acceptance. The IELTS qualification is the recognised standard used by academic institutions in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand and is also accepted in the USA and Canada.

The Cambridge Examination Preparation FCE Courses are scheduled to finish on the week before the exam takes place. You will find the start dates listed above.

IELTS Preparation Course: •Introduce students to and familiarise them with the format and content of IELTS •Equip students with effective skills and strategies needed to undertake the IELTS test with confidence. •Provide material for practice in all areas of the test •Administer regular practice tests with individual feedback and advice from teacher •Tips and advice from experienced teachers, including IELTS examiner.

We offer Cambridge First (FCE), Cambridge Advanced (CAE), and Cambridge Proficiency (CPE). All students must sit a pre-test before they enrol to ensure they are ready to sit the exam.
