Course description

English Program:

· Lessons are taught by qualified English teachers.
· 20 x 45-minute lessons per week, morning or afternoon.
· Placement test on day 1 to ensure students are in a class of the appropriate level.

· Curriculum with emphasis on communication skills.

Activities and excursions are scheduled in mornings, afternoons or evenings, with full-day trips at the weekend. All activities are designed to continue the learning in a fun and enjoyable way, encouraging you to develop life skills and make new friends through sport, activities and socially interactive games.

Activities
Sports: With a choice of football, mini Olympics, volleyball and basketball.

Drama: Drama and performance activities, such as drama workshops and scavenger hunts.

Evening: Activities such as karaoke, a talent show, team games and Manhattan by night walking tours.

Half-Day Trips
Our local half-day trips take students to places of interest such as the Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square and Central Park.

Full-Day Excursions
Empire State Building: Experience breath-taking views of Manhattan from this renowned skyscraper.

Times Square: Take in the sights and lights of this exciting crossroads with ample shopping opportunities.

Wall Street / Financial District: Explore world-famous Wall Street and Manhattan’s bustling Financial District.

New York Museums: Visit some of the world’s most famous museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Natural History and the MoMA.

Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island: Hop on a ferry to Liberty Island and see this iconic statue. Visit Ellis Island, the former gateway for millions of immigrants.

Jones Beach: Spend a sunny Saturday playing on this beautiful beach on Long Island.

Coney Island: The original Brooklyn beach theme park, with entertainment for everyone.

Accommodation:
Students stay in traditional US college dormitory rooms, located between two residence buildings: Conolly Hall and Hoyt Hall. Both are just a short walk from the central LIU Brooklyn campus.

· Students stay in twin, triple or quad standard rooms or en-suite rooms.
· All rooms are with shared facilities.
· All rooms are furnished with a wardrobe, desk and chair.
· Rooms are cleaned weekly.
· Bed linen and a towel are included and changed every week.
· Laundry is available in each residence building.
· Wi-Fi throughout the campus and in bedrooms.
· Food is served in a large self-service canteen.

visa

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying full time in the United States for more than 18 hours per week, you will receive an I-20 that you need to submit to the US embassy along with your F-1 student visa application. The I-20 has a SEVIS tracking number on it. Students who wish to apply for a student visa must pay the SEVIS fee online before going to the US embassy or consulate for their visa interview.

Your I-20 will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.

Please note that United States law states that an I-20 can only be issued to students who intend to pursue full-time English language studies. United States law does not permit students to study part-time with an F-1 Student Visa. If you are studying for less than 18 hours per week, you have to apply for a Visitor Visa (B1/B2) on your own.
