"Amazing, the level of the teachers and the location are really good"

stella vanegas, student from Colombia

In my opinion, this School has everything to make you feel satisfied and happy. Excellent teachers, and also the location and the facilities are great.

The housing its ok but I think could improve some aspects as: the cleaning, specially in the fridge, the towels to clean and to dry the stuff at the kitchen. The pans some of them are really old. Also I think that could exist a soap for washing plates and for washing clothes that can be used for every body. Doesn’t make sense to buy a bottle or can of detergent for 2 or 3 weeks. Could be great to replace the carpet in the bathroom and the curtain, and check the place to put the shampoo because it is rusty.

People at the front desk are friendly and open to attend your questions.

And the administrative staff is also very interested in addressing your needs, so they set up your schedule in the best way, for letting you reach your goals.

I liked everything very well. The class was fun, interesting and I learned a lot of new things. The location was also good, because the way to school was not that long. The housing was amazing. My host family was just great; they were nice, helpful and friendly.

"Great Teachers at EC Boston"

Hedwig Braschler, student from Switzerland

I enjoyed my advanced Business English course at EC Boston very much. The teachers are really great at EC Boston. The classes were instructive and entertaining at the same time. Boston is a lovely city and EC is located in the center of downtown near the seaside.

"EC Boston is a great place to increase a level of English, to participate in social activities and have a fun."

Yashar Khudiyev, student from Azerbaijan

Classes are great. Especially the teaching professionalism of Caitlin, Eddie, Brett, also pronunciation and slang teachers. The location of the EC school is very easy to reach by train. That helps a lot. The activities are also interesting, however I would prefer to make them more out of charge, as you know for some of them students have to pay. I am not satisfied with the housing conditions. The rooms are in poor condition, kitchen stuff is not completed fully. Despite of our requests nobody made our cable TV work till now... But generally all seems OK for now.

"Wonderful opportunity to improve language skills, to meet people from all over the world and to discover American way of life"

Khodakova Valentina, student from Russia

I did like the classes a lot and I had two great teachers (Timothy and David). The location was great, close to the T and to the downtown. I know that the school moved to a new building this year and I have heard from students that it is good as well. I didn't have a chance to participate in many activities but I know people enjoyed going to the Blue Man Group show, karaoke, football games, etc. As for the housing, my homestay family was ok, the food was good, and they were always ready to talk to us. I was a little disappointed with my room (it was a single, but the girl who lived in the room next to mine had a different schedule and had to walk through my room in the mornings. As I'm a light sleeper, I was always woken up as well). The location wasn't the best; they live in Dorchester and it wasn't always easy to get back from Downtown, especially at night. But I know that a lot of the homestay families live kind of far from the city center. In general, everything was good and I had a great time. Thank you for your assistance.

"Absolutely fantastic, I would return if I could, without any doubt."

Uxue, student from Spain

The classes were enjoyable, except for when we did readings. The teachers were very nice, above all Timothy; he changed the way I used to understand the language, I am very glad he was my teacher. The location, facilities, and activities were perfect. The atmosphere inside the academy was warm, friendly, and close. I learned a lot and I would really recommend it!!!!

Staying with a local family is both exciting and rewarding. Host families provide the best insight into how an American family leads their life. This interaction with a family helps you communicate better, faster and allows you to pick up words and phrases used in daily situations. All families are English speaking and are happy to share all of Boston’s cultural and traditional aspects with you!

There is no typical homestay in Boston. Some homes are single standing homes, apartments or multifamily homes.

Each room is furnished with a bed, desk, closet and waste paper basket. You will also have access to a shared bathroom.

Bostonians come from all over the US and the rest of the world but all of them are American and call Boston home. Our host families reflect this diversity and include single people, couples, parents with children, and single-parent families.

A variety of food is provided each one packed with nutritional value. Host families make an effort to adjust the type of food offered to the tastes of the students and take religious beliefs into consideration when preparing meals. Vegetarians or people with food allergies should specify their eating options upon booking so this can be shared with families prior to arrival.

Breakfast varies from family to family. It is usually self-service and includes bread, coffee, cereal. Hosts are encouraged to offer students whatever is typical for their home.

You will eat whatever the family eats and help set the table or clear up after dinner. You are encouraged to participate in family activities or outings.

Our host families are located all over the Greater Boston area. Every homestay is visited and approved by an EC Boston staff member.

Using public transport, the closest T stations to the school are Park Street, or Downtown Crossing (Red Line), Haymarket or State (Orange Line), Aquarium, or State (Blue Line), and Haymarket (Green Line).

Homestays are about 45 minutes to 1 hour from EC Boston.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying full time in the United States for more than 18 hours per week, you will receive an I-20 that you need to submit to the US embassy along with your F-1 student visa application. The I-20 has a SEVIS tracking number on it. Students who wish to apply for a student visa must pay the SEVIS fee online before going to the US embassy or consulate for their visa interview.

Your I-20 will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged $80 when you register.

Please note that United States law states that an I-20 can only be issued to students who intend to pursue full-time English language studies. United States law does not permit students to study part-time with an F-1 Student Visa. If you are studying for less than 18 hours per week, you have to apply for a Visitor Visa (B1/B2) on your own.

Flights and airport transfer

The closest airport to the school is Boston Logan Airport (BOS).

The school offers airport pickup services. If you wish to be picked up, just give us your flight details and arrival date. The price of a one-way airport transfer from Boston Logan Airport is $115. You must book your airport transfer in advance when you register.

Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to Boston based on your budget, schedule and preferences.
