Estudio Sampere Havana is situated in a detached building in La Vibora, in South Havana. The school has six classrooms, a small garden, common room, library and video room. It has a friendly atmosphere, and the director and staff are Cubans who make up a professional and committed team.
The school offers students invaluable assistance and also works as a "Tourist office" making airline reservations and advising students on the various possibilities for travel in Cuba and the Caribbean.
All the teachers have studied at university and are certified in the Estudio Sampere teaching methodology. Apart from classes, teachers also accompany students on excursions and specially programmed activities.
Sampere Havana organizes school activities and culture classes on a regular basis.
The activities which take place after or before the regular class hours are a great way to learn Spanish and get to know the Havana city and Latin American cultures. It is also a great opportunity to get to know other Sampere students from different countries!
Sample Activities:
- Outdoors sports at the beach
- Visit the Cuban tobacco and rum factories
- Music and dance festival
- Visits to La Habana museums
- Picnic at Las Terrazas Pinar del Rio

Located at a two-story house with garden, Estudio Sampere Havana is quite unique, as, in addition to housing 6 classrooms, it also includes 2 double rooms to accommodate students, a cafeteria or dining area, and a classroom for dancing lessons. Since the school is also a residence, it is open 24 hours a day, has private security, and students are free to drop by anytime. It is possible to meet there with other students and relax after class. The school also has a roof garden and a terrace where students can enjoy long chats with their teachers.
The school’s atmosphere is rather laid back and similar to that of a large family. It offers breakfast and lunch during the week and breakfast and dinner during the weekend. This gives the school a one-of-a-kind character that is hard to compare with any other school in the world. Lessons take place in the morning, and afternoons are used for cultural, tourist and leisure visits. In addition, our staff will be at your disposal to help you with anything you may need: from currency exchange services to organizing
an excursion, or renewing your visa.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The school is located at La Vibora residential district. Only 15 minutes from Old Havana, La Víbora is the largest residential area of the island’s capital. This allows students a total immersion into Cuban life and offers a break from the tourist frenzy in Old Havana. Both accommodation options offered (with a host family or in apartments) are in this area.
In addition, the neighborhood boasts “paladares” (small restaurants), shops to do some shopping, cafes, and parks, as well as a hospital which is quite close to the school.
THE CITY
The capital of Cuba has become one of the most populated cities in Central America, thanks to its privileged location for trade, which has made it a protagonist of History on various occasions, and the capital of Cuba for several centuries. With more than two million inhabitants, its tourist pull has settled over the years for many reasons, such as having one of the best-preserved historic heritages on the continent.
In addition to its tropical climate, the welcoming personality of the locals makes Havana the perfect destination for a language immersion of several weeks. Monuments, museums, markets, “almendrones” (old American cars), and cigar and rum factories make this city an unforgettable place. There are two types of currencies in Cuba, one for residents and another one for tourists, this is the reason why everything has two prices.
LEARN SPANISH IN LA HABANA, CUBA
Havana was founded in 1519 by the Spaniards. By the 17th century, it had become one of the Caribbean's main centers for ship-building. Although it is today a sprawling metropolis of 2 million inhabitants, its old centre retains an interesting mix of Baroque and neoclassical monuments, and a homogeneous ensemble of private houses with arcades, balconies, wrought-iron gates, and internal courtyards.
Many of Old Havana's finest buildings have been converted into museums, and there are churches, palaces, castles, revolutionary monuments and markets to visit; however, the renovations are only slowly extending to residential areas.
Estudio Sampere Havana is located in a 3-story building in a nice residential neighborhood called La Vibora. The school has six classrooms, a spacious patio, terrace, dining room, library, video room, and common areas. The building also hosts an in-house residence with 3 rooms. It has a friendly atmosphere, and the director and staff are Cubans who make up a professional and committed team.
The school offers students invaluable assistance by advising them on the various possibilities for travel in Cuba and the Caribbean. All the teachers are university graduates and are certified in the Estudio Sampere teaching methodology.

LIKED:
Excellent and competent teachers
Classes were well organised, well planned for a week lesson. The teaching method was very practical.
Nice lesson materials which we could take home and continue learning.
The food was excellent and the people working in kitchen were very nice
DISLIKED
I would never return to this school in July, most of the classroom had no air conditioner, except for one
I would not return with a child because there were no other children and the place is not suitable for children, even though my 12 year old son had a great teacher (Julie or Julia) she was exceptional!
Some cultural activities has extra charged, they should have included it in the tuition fee.
Smoking should be prohibited on the terraces, smokers should go in a smoking area. Non-smokers like me had to endure breathing the smoke coming from them.
The school was and is very serious. The director is a very correct and kind person and also the teachers are very prepared. The other personnel are very kind. Also the housing was good and the 2 people at the house where I lived were very welcoming.
But when I arrived my course wasn't at the beginning (because two students came one week before). So I started to study with the past of irregular verbs without having any idea of the present, for example. It wasn't simple for me to integrate, but they offered me one personal teacher to recover. And I felt very good with the second teacher (who was also my dance teacher, a wonderful dance teacher). The only negative aspect was that they didn't tell me, it was me that asked what happened with the first teacher.
In general, it was difficult for me (normally I don't have any particular problems communicating and integrating with other people) to integrate into the school because all the students, who were very young, were Swiss and talked only and always in German (except in the classroom, obviously); therefore, I recommend this school only if you are Swiss or speak German, if not no. But it's also true that after 8 days three other students arrived who were also Swiss and who were more open and friendly and for me all was better.
Another negative aspect is that the schoool is situated far from the centre of Habana. It is isolated, which isn't a good aspect. If I had known this before, I probably wouldn't have chosen this school.
